TOKYO, January 31, 2024 - TIER IV, a pioneer in open-source autonomous driving (AD) technology, has successfully launched a collaboration with DENSO Corporation (DENSO) *1 and OTSL Inc. (OTSL)*1 to accelerate the development of AI (Artificial Intelligence) semiconductors optimized for AD systems. The three companies will be promoting a project to develop energy-efficient and innovative AI semiconductors and related systems, managed by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
Together with DENSO and OTSL, TIER IV will develop a prototype for AD systems and an embedded System-on-a-Chip (SoC) platform that enables improved power efficiency and safety. Utilizing its expertise in the development of AD technologies, TIER IV will play the following roles in the project:
Through this collaboration, TIER IV aims to contribute to revitalizing the semiconductor and automotive industries with a focus on the deployment of technologies in areas such as autonomous driving, industrial machinery, healthcare, and welfare.
*1 This research proposal was submitted by NSITEXE and OTSL and adopted by NEDO on June 8, 2023. Subsequently, NSITEXE was acquired by DENSO on January 1, 2024.
