At TIER IV, we organize regular tech talks to inspire innovation through knowledge sharing and community building. In our 8th session, three TIER IV engineers from key AI areas will share how each AI field, ranging from end-to-end AI to MLOps, and beyond, will impact the evolution of autonomous driving, as well as the kind of talent needed to drive the next stage of innovation.

Can you explain the selection process?

After an initial document screening, we typically conduct 2-3 interviews. Additionally, for engineering positions, we may ask candidates to complete assignments.

Roughly how long is the selection process?

The timeline from application to job offer typically takes around 4 weeks. Please note that this timeline may vary based on the position, but we can try to accommodate the candidate's availability.

Can the entire selection process be conducted online?

Yes, we generally conduct interviews online. If you prefer an in-person interview, please inform us in advance.

I haven’t decided if I want to change jobs yet. Is it OK to submit an application?

Absolutely. If you're unsure about which position to apply for, we're happy to have a casual conversation with you to help you find a role that aligns with your requirements.

Can I visit the office and meet members of the team if I receive a formal job offer?
Certainly. We're happy to accommodate your request, so please feel free to inform us of your preferences.
Will there be an opportunity to discuss the job offer?
Yes. When our Human Resources team notifies you of the job offer, they will arrange a meeting with your future supervisor or team members to clarify your job expectations.
Do you have a timeframe for responding to job offers?
In general, we provide a one-week window for your response following the offer interview, but if you have any specific circumstances or need more time, please don't hesitate to inform us.
Do you have a set start date for joining the company?

Full-time employees are usually expected to start on the first day of the month they join the company.

What is the schedule for the first day at the company?

On your first day, about 1.5 hours will be spent on initial PC setup, system account registration, and other necessary tasks, followed by various training sessions.

Is remote work an option?

Yes, it's a possibility. In-office hours will depend on your job role, details of which will be explained during the interview.

Does the company offer a defined contribution pension plan?

We offer a voluntary defined contribution plan, allowing employees to contribute a portion of their salary if they choose to. The company does not make contributions to this plan.

Do you provide any housing or rent assistance?

Not at the moment.

What kind of support do you offer parents balancing work and childcare responsibilities?

We offer a childcare leave program that complies with legal requirements and regulations. Paternity leave and shorter working hours for childcare are encouraged. Many of our employees are parents who successfully juggle work and childcare responsibilities.

 

Our company culture promotes flexibility, allowing employees to easily adapt their remote and in-office work schedules to accommodate family commitments. Excluding certain roles, we offer flexible work schedules without fixed core hours, giving employees the flexibility to determine their own start and finish times.

Do you offer transportation or commuting allowances?

We will reimburse either the cost of a monthly commuter pass or the actual commuting expenses, whichever is lower. The maximum monthly allowance is 30,000 yen.

Are secondary jobs allowed?
It requires prior approval and is permitted under certain conditions.
Do you offer assistance with the work visa application process?

We help overseas candidates with the Certificate of Eligibility application process, if required.

 

After approval, the process from visa application to visa issuance, arrival in Japan, and obtaining a residence card may take up to 3 months.

Is it possible to work remotely while based overseas?

We do not permit it.

Is English the main language used at the company?

It depends on the team. As the number of international employees is increasing, we’re producing more of our documentation in English and Japanese. Both languages are commonly used in day-to-day communications.

What percentage of employees are from outside Japan?

About 10 percent of our employees are non-Japanese (as of April 2025).
