TIER IV, a leading open-source autonomous driving startup, proudly received the “2022 SunBridge Emerging Leader Award”. The award ceremony for the 2022 Japan - U.S. Innovation Awards Program was held at Stanford University on July 14. As the creator of Autoware*, the world’s first open-source autonomous driving software, TIER IV was recognized as a pioneer in open-source autonomous driving technology over the past few years.
The Japan - U.S. Innovation Awards is an annual program that celebrates innovation connecting Silicon Valley and Japan, and is jointly organized by the Japan Society of Northern California and the Stanford University US-Asia Technology Management Center.
The SunBridge Emerging Leader Award, which has been presented annually since 2011, to young, high-growth entrepreneurial companies founded upon innovations that have the potential to make substantial global impact. Each year, this award recognizes one company from Japan and one from the U.S. that are already beginning to transform a major industry, with previous winners including Tesla Motors , LINE and Mercari, while they were still in their infancy.
In the autonomous driving space, TIER IV will continue to accelerate the development of Autoware and its business foundation in both Japan, the birthplace of Autoware, and in the U.S which is a market at the forefront of technology development in the field of autonomous driving, and will strive to be a driving force in creating new waves of innovation in the mobility field on a global scale.
