TOKYO, December 14, 2023 – TIER IV, a pioneer in open-source autonomous driving (AD) technology, is proud to announce it received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Award at the Well Aging Economy Forum’s Well-being & Age-tech 2023 Award on December 7.
Envisioning to reimagine intelligent vehicles with the art of open source, TIER IV aims to create a society where all people can contribute to and benefit from technological development. TIER IV received the award in recognition of its commitment to seamlessly integrating science, technology, and innovation in the development of AD technology, and improving the inclusiveness and well-being of the super-aged society. The award also shines a spotlight on the dedication and efforts of those who share and support TIER IV’s vision, including business partners such as AISAN TECHNOLOGY and local governments like the city of Shiojiri in Nagano Prefecture, which is involved in an initiative to roll out autonomous driving in the area.
The development and implementation of AD technology is an important step toward fostering a society where individuals, including the elderly and those with mobility difficulties, can navigate their daily lives safely and freely. Launched in 2021, the Well-being & Age-tech Award acknowledges initiatives that take advantage of science, technology, and innovation to boost inclusivity and well-being, encompassing challenges in super-aging societies.
